Dear H.E.S. Parents/Guardians/Families:

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by! It is with great excitement and pride that I assume the role of Principal at Harrington Elementary School (HES).  I hope to maintain the strong traditions that make HES a special place, while also ensuring that your child remains engaged and excited to come to school every day. As the new school year approaches, I hope you will consider the staff, teachers, and me as partners in your child's education.

This partnership is essential because you are responsible for developing your child's foundational life skills, such as behavior, at home. At school, we will also focus on promoting positive behavior, and have the important task of helping your child achieve various academic learning goals.  To assist with this, we will be introducing a new school theme: “Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Kind." While these may seem like obvious norms for school, basic manners and personal responsibility have declined over the last few years. Embracing these expectations at home and school will strengthen our partnership and create a positive environment for your child's personal and academic growth.

I look forward to recognizing your child for their positive behavior, academic achievements, and contributions to our school. While your child may face difficulties at times, together in partnership, we can help your child overcome these challenges.  Student success is my top priority, and it is essential to adhere to school policies.  Over the summer, I reviewed and updated our student handbook, which discusses several safety policies and overall school procedures.  A copy of the new handbook will be sent home in the first few days of school, and I encourage you to take some time to review it with your child.

The new school year will be here before we know it, but in the meantime, you can reach me via email at ebrooks@msad37.org or leave a message by phone at (207) 483-6681 if you have any questions or concerns.  Remember that together we are stronger.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

 Sincerely,

 Eric M. Brooks

Principal/Head Hawk
