December 16, 2021

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students, and School Board Members:

At this time, we are extending the indoor mask mandate through the Christmas break, to be revisited again on January 7.

In the last two weeks the local cases of COVID have remained high. On November 23 the county’s seven-day COVID positive total was 184.

Wednesday night our School Board voted to do voluntary pool testing within our schools. We will be sending home permission slips and more information soon. Those students that participate in pool testing will not have to quarantine if they are considered a close contact. We hope that with a high enough percentage of participation that we will dramatically reduce the number of students that have to miss school due to being in quarantine.

We are still fortunate that none of the positive cases that have been brought into our schools have resulted in any significant spread within the school. All have been linked to community transmission.

This mask mandate will continue to be monitored, and it will be lifted when the conditions that caused its implementation have significantly subsided. At the end of this time-period you will be notified if the mask mandate will continue or if it will be lifted.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation with this difficult situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Ronald C. Ramsay

Superintendent of Schools
