Dear Daniel W. Merritt School Families,
I hope that you all have had some time to enjoy the summer sun! As vacation draws to a close, I want to remind you that school opens on Wednesday, September 1. The building is spick and span, the classrooms look great and the staff and I are excited to welcome students to D.W. Merritt for a new school year full of learning and fun!
To date, we remain cautious due to the pandemic. Mask wearing is a recommendation by the CDC (Center for Disease Control). The decision to require masks or not in our district schools is a local school board decision. At this time, masks are not required in school. Students and staff may wear masks if they choose to do so. Federal law does require masks to be worn on our busses.
I am pleased to share that you are welcome to come in the school! To enter, please buzz the call button in the lobby and speak with me or Mrs. Alley before you proceed. Masks will be available for those that wish to wear them. I appreciate your cooperation as we strive to maintain a safe learning environment.
If you will be dropping your child/children off at school in the mornings, please park in the designated parking area and a staff member will be there to accompany them into the building. Morning drop off time is 7:30-8:00. If you will be picking up your child/children regularly at the end of the school day, please park in the designated parking area and they will be dismissed @ 2:45. If your child regularly goes on the bus and you need to pick them up or you need them dismissed early, please call in (483-2229) for them to be dismissed. Thank you for helping make the dismissal process as smooth and safe as possible.
