Title I Excess Carryover

In FY26 (SY 25-26), RSU 37 received $370,539.99 in Title I funding and spent funds on paying ed techs to work with eligible Title I students in the areas of reading and math, for Title I Family Night Activities, and for program coordinator. At the end of 25-26, we have approximately $133,000 remaining in carryover funds. Since we are allowed to carryover up to 15% of our total allocation, that leaves about $77,500 remaining in excess carryover in Title I. The reason for that is we were unable to fill one of our ed tech positions at half-year when a position opened and some of our ed techs were lower on the pay scale than what was budgeted for.

Our plan to spend down funding is as follows: we have now filled our ed tech positions in all three elementary schools and are looking for a literacy specialist to work with our Title I students and our Title I Ed Techs. We are also looking at some ELA resources to be used in the Title I program and will soon begin after school tutoring for Title I students in our three elementary schools. Please note that Title I has strict criteria on what we can use these funds for.

If the community has comments or opinions on our planned use of funds, please reach out to the Superintendent’s Office by October 14th, so we can consider them prior to finalizing our planned use of excess funding by emailing dfickett@msad37.org or calling 207-483-2734. You may also use the public comment period at our next board meeting on September 30th at CWCIT, in Columbia, to provide feedback.
