Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am writing to provide you with information regarding the status of transportation services within the district.

I can now report that our Director of Transportation, Mr. Jon MacLeod, has accepted another position outside the district. In addition, longtime bus driver Mr. Buddy Mills will primarily be taking extracurricular trips for 2025-26.

I had a meeting with the remaining drivers on August 15. The group was confident that the remaining drivers could absorb Harrington's race in the city previously conducted by Buddy Mills and veteran driver Ronie Strout will do a double race to cover the whole of Addison.

In short, your son or daughter may have a new bus driver for the 2025-26 school year, but they will be one of our regular employees. While their individual trips may take longer, no child will be penalized in any way if the bus is late to school on a given school day.

While I remain concerned about the shortage of bus drivers and what that may mean for the winter months, I am proud of the professionalism and willingness of the remaining drivers to pitch in and roll up their sleeves for the sake of students and their families.

If you have any further questions about this matter, please feel free to call me here at the central office 483-2734.

Respectfully

Kenneth Johnson

Superintendent of Schools MSAD 37
