News from Mrs. Greene

Dear Daniel W. Merritt School Families,

The 2020-2021 school year is off to a very good start!  We are adjusting to pandemic guidelines, working together and doing well!  If you have not seen our virtual open house on the school website, please do so.  Go to www.msad37.me and under sites, click D.W. Merritt.  Under news you will see a link to our Open House video.  Please watch, see the classrooms and meet the staff.  We are all glad to be back and working with your children again!

Just a reminder that breakfasts and lunches are currently free to all students.  On Tuesdays, we will send home breakfasts and lunches with all students for Wednesdays.  Remote students and any children that reside in the community may pick up breakfasts and lunches from DWM on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00.

To our remote families, your child’s/children’s work will be ready for pick-up on Monday mornings in the black and red totes outside the main entrance.  Please return the previous week’s work at this time as well. The staff will continue to contact you on Wednesdays as agreed.

Friday, Oct. 30 is an early release day for students.  On this day, each grade will be having Fall Harvest Parties in their classrooms.  Students may bring costumes to put on for their parties.  I am sorry to say that due to pandemic guidelines, we can’t have goodies and treats sent in from home. The district lunch program will be providing Halloween lunches and treats for students.  Since only students and staff are allowed in the building, I will take lots of pictures at the parties and post them on our school website for you to enjoy!  Dismissal will begin at 11:30 for Pat’s bus and parent pick-ups will be dismissed at 11:45 with Ronie’s and Dawn’s buses leaving @ 12:00.

Thank you so much for your help in making our student drop-off / pick-up procedure go so smoothly.  Your support and cooperation are much appreciated as we work together to get our students in and out of the building safely!

It is always exciting for the staff and me to welcome returning students and new students to D.W. Merritt.  I see a student body and a staff that are ready and anxious to learn.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me or the teachers with any questions or concerns.  COVID has changed how we do things, but it has not changed our commitment to our students and the importance of their learning.  In true D.W. Merritt spirit, we will continue to work together to provide our students with the best possible learning experiences during this challenging time.  We are D.W. Merritt Strong!

Sincerely,

Lorna N. Greene
